JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of
Senior Technical Engineer/Officer.
Reporting to the Manager, Projects, this role is responsible for
contributing to Ontario Power Generation by executing and managing Periodic Safety Review (PSR) Projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support associated licensing activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Support execution and management of Periodic Safety Review (PSR) Projects, including Codes & Standards reviews, Safety Factors Reviews, Global Assessments, and Integrated Implementation Plans, in compliance with CNSC REGDOC-2.3.3.
-Working with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support PSR and Reactor Safety projects.
-Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved methods and enhancements to PSR Project execution.
-Co-ordinate the clarification of specification requirements and arrange for necessary changes and/or co-ordinate technical work as required in a number of major Reactor Safety projects.
-Maintain and/or update project and other specified department/divisional procedures.
-Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems, and coordinate technical work as required, in a number of major Reactor Safety projects, in support of the refurbishment of OPG Nuclear facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

-Ideal candidates will have worked in a Nuclear Engineering environment.
-Familiarity with Nuclear Power Plant Licensing framework in Canada (REGDOC 2.3.3); particularly the assessment and implementation of licensing codes and standards; familiarity with the development and implementation of comprehensive safety review for nuclear facilities, including assessment of conformity to modern laws regulations, codes, and standards (LRCS)
-Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
-Must be familiar with multi-unit power plant operations and systems; Strong understanding of risk assessment, prioritization of safety issues based on nuclear safety significance, and development of resolution plans that support the long-term safe operation of nuclear facilities.
-Skilled in performing gap analyses, prioritizing safety issues, and developing actionable recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous safety improvement.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations; Have experience and/or willingness to interface with vendors; Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self-motivation are assets.
-Knowledgeable in the following areas; Plant Design, Aging Management, Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety Analyses, Hazard Analysis, Safety Performance, Environmental and Seismic analysis
-Proven track record on delivery results.
-Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision; Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset.

-Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
