CHM247H1S (Practical Sections) - Introductory Organic Chemistry II
Course Description:
  This course is recommended for students in the life and health science programs and is a continuation of CHM136H1 (Introductory Organic Chemistry I).  The course commences with an outline of structure elucidation techniques in organic chemistry (spectroscopy) and proceeds to discuss the reactivity and properties of important functional groups.  Emphasis is placed on synthetic and mechanistic principles that are applied to pharmaceutically and biologically important compounds whenever possible, providing students with a working knowledge of modern organic chemistry.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (8:30 am - 12:00 pm)

$10,510.04 for Sessional Lecturer I Long Term;

$11,030.36 for Sessional Lecturer III Long Term

Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in chemistry or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coordinating laboratories in organic chemistry at the university level.
Description of Duties:
  The Department of Chemistry requires a sessional lecturer to deliver and facilitate the in-person laboratories in CHM247H1 (Introductory Organic Chemistry II) during the 2026 Winter session.  Duties include the responsibility of effectively coordinating labs with all of the attendant organizational issues of laboratory preparation and delivery, supervision of laboratory demonstrators, invigilating and marking of tests and exams, management and reporting of student laboratory marks, and holding office hours.
