Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Advancement Services, the Manager, Advancement Services will play a key internally facing role within the Advancement team, responsible for supporting the operational and administrative functions that enable the success of the Major Gifts portfolio, and other projects and programs in the Office of Advancement. This role is responsible for ensuring that fundraising and engagement efforts are well-coordinated, data-informed, and aligned with institutional priorities. The Manager will take a collaborative approach, contributing to the development and execution of strategies and projects that support donor engagement, solicitation, and stewardship allowing advancement teams, to focus on securing gifts in the mid-to-high six-figure range, and above.

Key responsibilities include: overseeing coordination of projects, programs and initiatives; implementing the Faculty’s key strategic priorities; undertaking detailed research and analysis on a wide variety of issues related to strategic initiatives, such as the Major Gifts portfolio; facilitating project work to ensure deliverables are met within the required timelines; drafting briefing notes and reports; developing templates for the Major Gifts portfolio; tracking and following-up on deliverables. 

The Manager, Advancement Services will provide day-to-day management and oversight of a team of Development Associates. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

I. Education:

University degree required, or equivalent education and experience.

II. Experience:

Minimum four (4) years’ experience in providing high-level administrative support and project management to fundraising operations, donor relations or a related field, ideally in a post-secondary environment. 
Extensive experience managing and coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
Demonstrated experience in a project management capacity, including experience with all aspects of process development, implementation through to completion and evaluation of project initiatives.
Experience supporting business planning and tracking key metrics and progress towards goals.
Experience managing and leading staff, ideally in a unionized environment. 
Experience in performing donor related research, analysis, writing and reporting. 
Experience conducting research, producing reports and presenting on findings. 

III. Skills

Advanced computer skills in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, and SharePoint – designer level preferred). Experience with donor management software, such as ARBOR, (CRM). Strong assets include: Tableau, Power BI, LinkedIn Sales Navigator,  ThankView/EverTrue, Microsoft Flow and Power Automate.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; polished writing and excellent communication skills; superior organizational skills in planning, project management and task coordination with a high level of attention to detail. Highly organized, and ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment. Excellent leadership skills and initiative. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, results oriented team environment.

IV. Other

Must be able to conduct thorough research, clearly and concisely summarize information and provide a rationale for action. Knowledge of University policies and procedures, and an understanding of fundraising sector. Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact; ability to deal with senior administrators in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building. Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity.

 

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
