The Office of the Vice-Principal Academic & Dean at UTSC is embarking on exciting program and curriculum renewal in light of the opening of the new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) and significant growth in Health Sciences students. To be launched in Fall 2026, SAMIH will serve as an inclusive hub for healthcare education by training the next generation of professionals across a range of disciplines.

Since its launch in Fall 2024, the Certificate in Pathways to Health Professions has attracted over 1600 undergraduates and continues to be a popular choice for students interested in healthcare. With this new role, we strive to build on that momentum and to continue to offer new and exciting opportunities for students to build relevant skills and gain knowledge to inform their career choices. Health-related pedagogy is at the core of the co-curricular opportunities we seek to create and integrate into student learning, serving as a foundational approach to equipping students with the practical knowledge, interdisciplinary skills, and professional competencies essential for success in the health sciences. We are seeking a dynamic, professional, and detail-oriented Health Professions Co-Curricular Officer to support a range of initiatives related to health education, student engagement, and institutional partnership development. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in health sciences and a passion for enhancing student experiences through co-curricular programming and strategic collaboration.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs & Curriculum and the Senior Manager, Academic Operations in the delivery of co-curricular initiatives related to SAMIH. Duties range from frontline administrative support to assisting with the development and maintenance of partnerships related to SAMIH, including outreach and event coordination. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as this role involves working with diverse stakeholders, report writing, and ensuring students are well-informed about available programming. This role is ideal for someone who’s adaptable, thrives in evolving environments, and is enthusiastic about helping students build meaningful connections to inform their career pathways within health education and beyond. Success will require comfort with shifting priorities and a proactive approach to shaping new co-curricular opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
-Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
-Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
-Facilitating educational workshops and seminars and drafting presentation materials
-Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
-Researching new activity opportunities for assigned program areas and recommending new partnerships
-Drafting communications and developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
-Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
Essential Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree. A Master’s Degree in Education or health related discipline is considered a strong asset.
-Minimum 4 years of recent and relevant experience in health sciences including related administration and program support, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
-Previous experience in health education, healthcare infrastructure, and primary care
-Direct experience coordinating and leading events for diverse audiences
-Direct knowledge of student experience/success programming
-Familiarity with Scarborough’s health care infrastructure and eco-system
-Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Quercus, and various social media platforms
-Working knowledge of design software e.g. Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, WordPress, Canva, Photoshop
-Demonstrated strong communication (verbal and written), research and presentation skills
-Experience managing relationships between multiple stakeholder groups and working in a data or target driven environment, building community and engagement, enhancing student experience and student success
-Demonstrated good judgement, tact and discretion and able to resolve issues
-Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
-Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
