Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, U of T Entrepreneurship (UTE) and to the Manager, Budget and Operations, you will work to support the overall U of T Entrepreneurship mandate to provide a high level of professional service to the University’s entrepreneurship community including faculty members, academic administrators, administrative staff and representatives ofpartner institutions and sponsor organizations. As the Financial & Business Services Coordinator, you will play an integral role in providing a wide range of financial analysis, reporting and administration for our department, including overseeing the day-to-day financial administration of various fund sources, reconciling financial statements, investigating discrepancies and preparing financial reports. Your extensive financial background combined with your solid organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills will be key to your success in this role. In addition, the incumbent will oversee day-to-day operational and administrative needs for the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Monitoring UTE budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations; planning and administering expenditures for operating and restricted funds, including partnership reporting; generating standard financial reports.
-Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements.
-Collecting supporting documentation required for financial administration, payroll and HRIS processing; processing payroll, processing expense reimbursements.
-Generating standard financial reports
-Providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives
-Tracking and monitoring service contracts for payment and renewal
-Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
 

Essential Qualifications:

-Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in accounting or business administration, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
-Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in financial administration including financial reporting, data collection and data management.
-Experience in administering private and public sector partnerships.
-Demonstrated understanding of financial management procedures, accounting principles and procedures, and research funding agency policies with an ability to accurately interpret and apply guidelines, procedures and regulations in a variety of situations.
-Experience working with financial information systems.
-Experience providing financial and payroll processing support, including processing expense reimbursements, accounts payable, creating and updating personnel records, entering and tracking timesheets, and troubleshooting discrepancies.
-Strong skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
-Strong oral and written communication skills.
-Demonstrated problem-solving and strong organizational skills.
-Demonstrated ability to analyze budget forecasts and critically evaluate resources.
-Strong numerical accounting, financial and analytical skills.
-Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work accurately under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize and re-prioritize under frequently shifting circumstances.
-Professionalism and tact in dealing with a variety of contacts, both internal and external.

Assets (Nonessential):

-Experience, familiarity and / or passion for entrepreneurship and the start-up ecosystem.
-Experience in sponsor-reporting and compliance.

USW Pay Band 10 -- $72,119. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $92,226. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
