LINC13H3 - Language Diversity and Universals - Fall 2025

Course description: An introduction to linguistic typology with special emphasis on cross-linguistic variation and uniformity in phonology, morphology, and syntax.

Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the rate of pay applicable for Sessional Instructional Assistants will be: $54.27/hour, excluding vacation pay.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Linguistics with a focus on morphology or syntax. Sound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. 

Preferred Qualifications: Previous research experience with nominals, grammatical features of nouns (person, number, gender, case, etc.), noun phrases (morphosyntax and semantics of the noun phrase), DPs, and argument structure is preferred. 

 
Duties: Grading of assignments, quizzes, midterms, and final examinations; entering grades into Quercus; assisting with the creation of assignments and answer keys; invigilating in-person tests and exams on campus.
