Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of
Mechanical Technician
Reporting to the Senior Manager Maintenance and Production, this position is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment and systems, covering all areas of millwrighting,
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of industrial equipment associated with hydroelectric generating stations and facilities.
-Maintain and operate precision machines, test equipment and shop tools required to carry out work assignments, including the fabrication of components and the use of specialized tooling. Fabricate, assemble and repair metal components, including highest level of welding required.
-Provide support, advice and co-ordination with regard to emerging work, projects and daily routines. Carry out and document maintenance activities.
-Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain and overhaul all mechanical equipment and components associated with generating stations and facilities. Take appropriate preventative or corrective action.
-Co-ordinate large projects related to the installation of new systems or the replacement of existing systems with different technologies. Carry out contract coordination and inspections to ensure effective quality assurance. Align machines using precision equipment such as dial indicators and laser-alignment tools.
-Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.
-Provide technical support, advice, coordination and assistance with regard to emerging work, projects and daily routines, including the development of technical/operational solutions to problems.
-Prepare and modify technical procedures and standards. Prepare mechanical and civil design sketches, drawings, and bills of material. Carry out document maintenance activities.
-Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, as per established technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

-Grade 12 or equivalent, and two year college diploma in a related field of study. Relevant field of education includes: Welding Engineering Technician, Welding and Fabrication technician; Mech Tech/Technologist -Millwright; Industrial Mechanic Millwright;
-3+ years of experience performing mechanical technician duties that demonstrate advanced welding skills and ability to perform millwright tasks.
-Red Seal qualified journeyperson required (456A and 433A)
-Knowledge with drawing, blueprints, sketches comfortable reading and understanding.
-Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities in a large industrial environment.
-Knowledge of large power plant equipment, rotating machinery and/or large industrial machines is an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
