Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Academic Operations and working closely with the Vice Dean, Recruitment, Engagement, & Student Success and Dean’s Designates for Student Conduct and Academic Integrity, the incumbent is part of a team that manages all matters related to student misconduct under the Code of Student Conduct and the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters, and ensures that cases are resolved fairly and in a timely manner.

With the Dean’s Designates and the Academic Integrity Specialists, the incumbent ensures that appropriate procedures are followed with respect to the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters throughout the process at the divisional level. The incumbent interprets and provides advice on relevant policies and procedures relating to academic discipline to the Vice Dean, Recruitment, Engagement, & Student Success (VDRESS), the Dean’s Designates, and to faculty and staff at UTSC. The incumbent is responsible for the daily operations of the Academic Integrity Office. This will involve overseeing the ServiceNow Case Management system, ensuring a positive user experience; supervising the day to day work of the Academic Integrity Specialists and student staff; overseeing outreach and education initiatives, providing guidance on resource and service delivery needs; serving as the Secretary for the Subcommittee on Academic Appeals (SAA) and coordinating SAA membership; serving as the liaison for the Office of the Registrar for matters related to centralized invigilation; serving as the liaison for tri-campus partners and colleagues, ensuring matters related to academic integrity are shared in a timely manner; compiling annual divisional statistics for reporting purposes; escalating issues to the VDRESS and Senior Manager as needed; and serving as a backup for the Academic Integrity Specialists during peak periods. 

The incumbent investigates and prepares case files for divisional levels for the Code of Student Conduct; prepares correspondence for signature; and works alongside the Senior Manager, Academic Operations to prepare status reports for the Dean and Assistant Dean. The incumbent attends all consultation and investigation meetings, taking minutes and preparing briefing notes as needed.

The incumbent acts as a resource and spokesperson for UTSC on issues relating to the Codes and on student conduct and academic integrity within the University. The incumbent participates in the development and implementation of proactive initiatives regarding student code and academic integrity, including educating faculty, staff, and students. The Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Officer consults with legal counsel and/or senior administration as necessary and liaises with faculty, the Registrar and their staff, student services, the Academic Advising and Career Centre, staff in academic departments, legal counsel and the Provost’s Office.

The incumbent is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Student Code and Academic Integrity website and SharePoint sites, creating and updating resources as needed.
Your responsibilities will include:

-Assessing and recommending corrective action to resolve code violations
-Determining appropriate disciplinary actions for breaches of policy and codes of conduct
-Responding to escalated complaints using informal negotiation skills
-Analyzing administrative processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement
-Developing content and facilitating educational workshops and seminars
-Keeping well-informed on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements and communicating changes as needed
-Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making
-Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
 

Essential Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree and/or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
-Minimum of 5 years related administrative experience in a University environment, with demonstrated knowledge of the policies and procedures of the University of Toronto and UTSC. Experience working with and interpreting academic policies. Background in matters of student code and governance.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office - all applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), OurSpace, SharePoint, OneDrive; UTSC Intranet; ROSI Express, website updating tools (Drupal)
-Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and to work independently.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, administrators and legal counsel in often difficult circumstances.
-Proven skill in empowering and guiding teams toward shared goals within complex organizational structures.
-Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering educational content to inform and engage the university community on institutional policies.
-Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion; remaining calm and professional in distressing situations.

Assets (Nonessential):

-Experience navigating quasi-legal frameworks, particularly those related to codes of conduct within postsecondary environments
-Background in student academic and professional development, focusing on programming and policy education
-Experience working with service management platforms for workflow automation, incident and request management
