Rogers is seeking a Cyber Security Advisor to support Telecom Network Security Operations within the Cyber Security unit.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Telecom Security Operations, at the Rogers Brampton campus, this individual will be responsible for; supporting the firewall submission process, performing risk assessments, governance and compiling reports to improve security and for providing telecommunication expertise on cyber security initiatives.
The role requires a technical customer service and analytical minded individual who is highly organized, able to handle multiple priorities, and deliver high quality work on time, with attention to detail. It also involves identifying possible cyber security threats against Rogers’ telecommunication network, assessing security risk of such threat, analyzing internal and external security intelligence and coming up with remediation to mitigate risk of such threats.
What you’ll be doing:
-Performing risk assessments on firewall rule requests and conducting firewall rule audit/clean-up.
-Conduct security risk assessments, evaluating new threats and vulnerabilities and making recommendations aligned to Rogers Security Standards and Policies for improvements.
-Develop and provide recurring and ad-hoc reports, dashboards and pivot tables, and measurable cyber security KPI (Key Performance Indicators) to demonstrate value add, process/tool effectiveness, current threats and threat intelligence and security maturity.
-Serve as the subject matter expert on several production security technologies and keeping abreast of emerging security threats, trends and technologies.
-Network with multiple vendors and Rogers teams (especially in Technology) to build cross-collaborative partnerships to understand current security posture and aid in further protecting and increasing security in the network.
-Support delivery of security improvement projects, documentation, communication and process optimization.
-Work with SMEs in the Network organization and across the company to understand current security posture on Rogers’ telecommunication vital cyber systems.
What you bring:
-Experience in network operations, engineering or a similar field with an understanding of network protocols and IP addressing & subnetting.
-Undergraduate degree preferred but not necessary. Preference for degree in Engineering, Information Management, Computer Science, Information Security or emphasis in technology or related field.
-Experience with security testing tools, threat assessments, security testing methodologies is an asset.
-Practical working experience with data analytics, an asset if it includes Business Objects(BO) and Power BI.
-Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
-Knowledge of cyber security related frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, etc.) is a definite asset.
-Excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills, for all audience levels.
-Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
-Ability to translate abstract concepts or technical language into simple, clear business language.
-Works well under pressure and time constraints and can prioritize competing priorities appropriately.
-Self-motivated with a 'can do’ attitude and a desire for continuous improvement and learning.
-Proven track record as a team player.
-Cyber security certifications are considered as assets.
