Course Number and Title: PHL281H1F Bioethics
Course Description: An introduction to the study of moral and legal problems in medical practice and in biomedical research; the development of health policy. Topics include: concepts of health and disease, patient rights, informed consent, allocation of scarce resources, euthanasia, abortion, genetic and reproductive technologies, human research, and mental health.

Schedule: Lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays 12:00-13:00; Tutorials on Fridays 09:00, 10:00, 11:00
Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1st, 2025 - December 31st, 2025
Rate of Pay: $54.27 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy. One year prior experience as a TA, preferably in Philosophy or a related field at U of T. Good prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course.
Description of Duties:
-• Holding 3 one-hour tutorials each week
• Preparation for tutorials and grading
• Grading
• Attending training sessions/meetings with the course instructor
• Organizing and submitting grades
• Holding office hours
• Lecture attendance
