Course Number and Title:  PHL265H1F Introduction to Political Philosophy

Course Description: An introduction to central issues in political philosophy, e.g., political and social justice, liberty and the criteria of good government. The writings of contemporary political philosophers, as well as major figures in the history of philosophy, may be considered. 

Number of Positions: 1

Estimated Course Enrollment:  200 students

Estimated Number of Hours:  155 Hours

Schedule: Lectures on Wednesdays 18:00-20:00; Tutorials on Thursdays 18:00, 19:00, 20:00

Sessional Dates of Appointment:  September 1st, 2025 - December 31st, 2025

Rate of Pay:  $54.27 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy. One year prior experience as a TA, preferably in Philosophy or a related field at U of T. Good prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course.

Description of Duties: 

•    Holding 3 one-hour tutorials each week 
•    Preparation for tutorials and grading
•    Grading 

•    Attending training sessions/meetings with the course instructor
•    Organizing and submitting grades
•    Holding office hours
•    Lecture attendance
