Sonographer (Non-Obstetric & Obstetric)

We are seeking an experienced Sonographer focused on non-obstetric ultrasound (primarily general abdominal and gynecological scans), with the ability to perform obstetric scans when required.

This is part of a backlog clearance initiative aimed at reducing patient waiting times for ultrasound services. The role is scanning-only with sessions delivered on-site.
This is a part-time locum/fixed-term contract for 2/3 weekdays per week, running through December 2025 (with possible extension). We offer a competitive daily rate of GBP650 outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities
*Ultrasound Scanning: Perform a range of non-obstetric scans (abdominal, pelvic/gynae, small parts, Doppler) independently to a high diagnostic standard. Ability to perform routine obstetric scans when required.
*Clinical Excellence: Deliver accurate imaging and preliminary observations in line with protocols, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Escalate significant findings promptly to the appropriate clinician.
*Documentation: Maintain accurate records using NHS electronic systems including CRIS, PACS, and GE ViewPoint. Familiarity with ViewPoint is desirable.
*Compliance: Adhere to NHS and departmental policies, safeguarding, and professional standards. Contribute to quality assurance and ongoing CPD.

Qualifications and Requirements
*CASE-Accredited Qualification in Medical Ultrasound (mandatory).
*Proven experience in non-obstetric ultrasound (abdominal, gynae) within an NHS clinical setting.
*Competence in obstetric ultrasound and knowledge of NHS scanning guidelines.
*Professional registration with HCPC (Radiographer) or NMC (Midwife/Sonographer).
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage patient throughput efficiently.
*Proficiency with ultrasound systems and electronic reporting software (ViewPoint).
*Prior NHS experience is preferred.

Contract Details
*Type: Locum / Fixed-Term Contract (Hospital-Based).
*Duration: Immediate start through December 2025, with potential extension.
*Schedule: 2/3 weekdays per week (daytime shifts only). No nights or on-call.
*Location: NHS hospitals in South East of England.
*Rate: GBP650 per day | Outside IR35
