How long should my resume be?
More often than not, someone will ask “how long should my resume be?”. This is a tough question to answer as it depends on a variety of factors. Such things to consider when deciding how long to make your resume could include, your length of career, industry you work in, the number of jobs you have had, what education and training you have had etc etc
So, if you are applying to your first or second job, you should think about keeping your resume to just 1 page. However, if you have around 10 – 20 years of experience and you have had several jobs that are relevant, you may need your resume to be more like 3 – 4 pages or even longer.

The main thing to remember when writing your resume is that hiring manager will have hundreds of resumes to go through so they will not want to have to read an essay to try to find the important points. Make sure that your strongest selling points and most relevant attributes for the role are highlighted and visible to the hiring manager. The resume is designed to pinpoint your most important skills to the job you are applying so make sure that it is relevant. |
