France - Overview
France is the largest Country in Europe and is bordered by the
English Channel, Belgium and Luxembourg in the northeast and
Germany, Switzerland and Italy in the east, the Mediterranean
in the south, Spain and Andorra in the southwest and the Atlantic
Ocean in the west.
There is some spectacular scenery across the Country including
the mountain ranges in the Alps and Pyrenees and the river valleys
of the Loire, Rhone and Dordogne.
Some popular attractions in the capital City, Paris are the
Louvre, Eiffele Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomphe
and the Champs Elysees. Close by there is also EuroDisney where
you can visit Mickey Mouse.
During the 1789 revolution, Frances fight for the 'equality
of the individual before the law' is engraved into the spirit
of the French. "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" - their
motto is included in the constitution and the French national
heritage and the storming of the Bastille on 14th July is still
celebrated every year.
France was a founding member of the EU and is still a driving
force behind the progress towards economic and political harmonisation
and has been key to the EU's expansion. France is still very
active in all parts of the world.
