The abbreviation “CV” is short for “curriculum vitae”, meaning “course of life”.
Most people's definition for curriculum vitae / CV is commonly along the lines of a summary of someone's education/qualifications, as well as their professional history.
This is how most people think when they write their CV. And whilst the heart of a CV should be about one's work experience, there is a lot more to effective CVs than just listing your qualifications and work history.
Indeed, many people concentrate so hard on writing all about their work experience/qualifications that they forget that the ultimate aim of a CV is to get them a job!
I have been writing CVs for years, and work with CVs day in, day out and it never ceases to surprise me just how many people have a CV that isn't cut out for getting them the jobs they are targeting!
