BCMA
British Complementary Medicine Association. The BCMA is open minded - we support any recognised therapy providing the standards of training are adequate and our codes of ethics and disciplines are adhered to. We are non profit making and reinvest all fees for the benefit of complementary medicine and those who practice it.
The BCMA welcomes all such therapists and associations who recognise the importance of working together within an umbrella group for the benefit of all. This embraces free expression, the sharing of ideas and resources and in particular, a focus on protecting the unique and holistic values of each therapy whilst embracing sensible regulatory parameters.

British Nutrition Foundation. The British Nutrition Foundation is a registered charity. It promotes the wellbeing of society through the impartial interpretation and effective dissemination of scientifically based knowledge and advice on the relationship between diet, physical activity and health.

BPS
The British Psychological Society is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. It is not a trade union but is a registered charity in the United Kingdom (Charity Registration Number: 229642). The Society was formed in 1901 and has more than 45,000 members. Through its Royal Charter, the Society is charged with overseeing psychology and psychologists. It has responsibility for the development, promotion and application of pure and applied psychology for the public good.

BAOT/COT
The British Association/College of Occupational Therapists is the professional body for occupational therapy staff in the UK.

FSA
The Food Standards Agency is an independent Government department set up by an Act of Parliament in 2000 to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food.

GOsC
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is one of the 13 UK health and social care regulators. The regulators are set up to protect the public so that whenever you see a health or social care professional, you can be sure they meet the required standards.
The regulators are committed to public and patient involvement in developing our regulatory processes.

GSCC
The General Social Care Council is responsible for setting standards of conduct and practice for social care workers and their employers, for regulating the workforce, and for regulating social work education and training. The GSCC is a Non Departmental Public Body established in October 2001 under the Care Standards Act 2000. It is sponsored by the Department of Health but works also closely with the Department for Children, Schools and Families in delivering the children’s and young people's care agenda.

HPC
The Health Professions Council are a regulator, and we were set up to protect the public. To do this, we keep a register of health professionals who meet our standards for their training, professional skills, behaviour and health. Our Council is responsible for developing strategies and policies and consists of 26 members (made up of one representative from each of the professions regulated and 13 lay members) plus a president. In addition, the HPC runs committees which help the Council with its work.

ICNM
The Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicine (ICNM) is a UK registered charity that was formed in 1982 to provide the public with information on all aspects of the safe and best practice of Complementary Medicine through its practitioners, courses and research.
The ICNM administers the British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP) which is a Register of professional Practitioners and Therapists who have provided evidence to us of their individual competence to practise.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland.

RCCM
The RCCM was founded in 1983 by a group of enthusiatic practitioners and researchers from both orthodox and complementary medicine. Today, our aim is to develop and extend the evidence base for complementary medicine in order to provide practitioners and their patients with information about the effectiveness of individual therapies and the treatment of specific conditions. |

RCM

RCN
The RCN represents nurses and nursing, promotes excellence in practice and shapes health policies.

RCP
The Royal College of Physicians of London provides a huge range of services to our 20,000 Members and Fellows and other medical professionals. These include delivering examinations, training courses, continuous professional development and conferences; undertaking clinical audits; publishing newsletters, guidelines and books through to maintaining the College's historical collections. We also lead medical debate, and lobby and advise government and other decision-makers on behalf of our members.

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is the professional body for speech and language therapists and support workers. We promote excellence in practice and influence health, education and social care policies.

RPSGB
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) is the professional and regulatory body for pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales. It also regulates pharmacy technicians on a voluntary basis, which is expected to become statutory under anticipated legislation. The primary objectives of the Society are to lead, regulate, develop and represent the profession of pharmacy.

SCP
An initiative of The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists, the leading professional body for HPC registered chiropodists and podiatrists in the UK.
The Society aims to raise awareness and acknowledge the contribution podiatry plays in helping to reduce complications associated with long term chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and vascular problems; conditions which have a high impact on patients' quality of life. Podiatry services help minimise the cost burden to the NHS and social services.
